All drafts will be "slow draft" style. We will make our picks on this board with a set time limit (likely 24hrs) until the draft is complete. We will start as soon as the league is filled and fees are paid.
Inaugural Draft
Our inaugural draft will commence this year.
- Order will be determined randomly.
- It will be a snake draft.
- All players outside of this years NHL entry draft are allowed to be drafted in the player pool. This includes juniors and players in other leagues.
- After 27 rounds it will continue another 23 rounds (without changing order) to fill out the 23 man Farm Rosters.
Our inaugural Junior draft will commence after.
- It will be in the reverse order of the previous draft.
- It will also be a snake draft.
- Only players from this years (2017- the Nico/Nolan draft) will be eligible.
- It will last 4 rounds.
Each year after that we will have a 6 round supplemental re-draft.
Annual Drafts
- This draft will be in reverse order of the standings and will occur in the off-season
- After this draft you will still have to cut six players off your roster(s) to get to the league settings of 50 (27 man active roster and 23 man farm roster).
- Only players left on the waiver wire will be available in this draft.
Each year we will have a subsequernt Junior Draft as well.
- This draft will be in reverse order of the standings but also affected by our draft lottery.
- You can go over the 4 given junior picks via trade- and have an unlimited number of junior spots.
- As noted you must promote or cut a junior player after their 3 year junior roster eligibility is over.
- Only players in that years NHL entry draft are eligible.
Draft Lottery
Will be voted on and determined. Hoping that we can do a "loser bracket and then have a lottery ball system wherby you get balls placed on your finish AND based on your "loser bracket" finish.
For example:
12 team league- top 8 make the playoffs and their lottery order is set.
For the other 4 teams youd get balls for standing and for loser bracket finish:
Standings- 8 balls for 12th, 6 balls for 11th, 4 balls for 10th, and 2 balls for 9th.
Loser Bracket +4 for 1st, +3 for 2nd, +2 for 3rd, and +1 for 4th.
Then youd pull balls for a randomized top 4.
This would apply to the first round and then switch back for the other 3.
This would discourage pure tanking and add an incentive to stay halfway competetive. It also ensures you cant just tank your way to success as every year the picks are randomized anyways.
